A black and white photo of two smiling Black sisters with curly hair embracing, standing on a wooden structure. One girl leans on the other with her arm around her shoulder. The background shows trees with bare branches.

For decades, punitive policies, over-policing and mass incarceration have disproportionately harmed Black communities and people of color. We must dismantle these systems and replace them with investments in public health, education, and community resources. Safety is not just the absence of crime, but the presence of justice and equity.

A new vision of safety centers on community-led initiatives and restorative practices. This means funding mental health services, youth programs, substance abuse treatment, violence prevention, economic opportunities, and supportive housing. True safety comes from empowering communities, not criminalizing them.

We must elect officials who will champion transformative policies and prioritize the voices of those most impacted by systemic violence. We have the power to keep our communities safe. Pledge your vote for community safety and help transform our justice system.
